Important fact, Junior College’s (when all divisions are included) have the largest amount of men’s basketball programs out of all the other divisions (this means they have more options than the NCAA, NAIA, USCAA etc.). Every year, more players are choosing to compete at the Junior College (JUCO) level first before progressing to a 4 year school. What is the reason for this? We answer this question in detail here with The Top 13 Reasons Basketball Players Go to Junior College First if you want to know all the reasons. But, in summary, it’s a great way to develop yourself more athletically & academically, while having extra time to really figure out what you want to major in.

NOTE: Some elite NJCAA D2 men’s basketball programs are scouted by college coaches recruiting for NCAA D1 basketball programs.
Playing for a Division 2 Junior College is competitive and is taken very seriously by everyone who is involved with the program which includes the coaching staff, support staff players and their fans.
A high percentage of players who attend a D2 JUCO successfully transfer to a NCAA Division 1 four year school. This is because NCAA D1 college coaches and scouts consistently recruit players from NJCAA D2 & D1 basketball programs. Also, players who attend a NJCAA D2 basketball program may be eligible to receive merit and need-based aid to support the cost of attending.
NOTE: 4-year College Coaches frequently turn to recruiting JUCO players over freshly graduated high school players to meet their recruitment needs.
NJCAA D2 men’s basketball programs play in various conferences and can be part of other athletic associations as well as the NJCAA (although the NJCAA is the largest of all the associations). These other associations can include:
Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA)
California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA)
National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA)
Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC)
United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA)
The above associations are linked to various conferences that the JUCO teams play in. These are based on where the Junior College is located. NJCAA D2 basketball programs are split into “Regions”. There are 24 regions in total. Each NJCAA basketball program is again given a specific region based on where their basketball program is located. Below you can find every school which plays in the NJCAA Division 2. Each school is alphabetically listed by the Region they play in.
The reason for the regions is as follows:
Member colleges of the NJCAA are allotted to a specific NJCAA Region upon membership to the association. Unlike other collegiate organizations that defer to conference affiliation, the NJCAA guarantees each member college’s membership within the regional structure of the association. In most cases, region assignment is based upon geographic location of the college … The region structure of the NJCAA is the primary method used by all sponsored sports of the association in determining qualification for national championship tournaments.
